Missouri Governor has signed the bill that repeals Proposition A provisions for the state’s minimum wage and sick leave law.
What does that mean for employers?
Proposition A required employers to provide one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked, starting May 1, 2025. With the governor’s signing, this requirement will be repealed Aug. 28, 2025. While the full implications are not yet known, we anticipate being able to provide more detailed guidance in advance of that time.
In the time since Proposition A went into effect, employees have been awarded sick time to meet requirements under the law. If workers don’t use this leave before Aug. 28, there’s no legal guarantee they will be able do so afterward.
The repeal also applies to Missouri’s minimum wage, which will still increase to $15 an hour on Jan. 1, 2026. The bill repeals a provision to adjust the minimum wage annually for inflation going forward.
